Introducing the first in a line of designer cams for head tracking to give your simpit a truly unique look, and provide the best possible tracking performance available on the market when paired with the high performance IRTrackStar led clip, and Opentrack software, for a complete head tracking package. The IRCam Deco will be followed by the IRCam Modern, IRCam Flight, and IRCam Cosmo. These cams will be released later in 24'.
Overview
The IRCam Deco utilizes a brushed aluminum face plate design with CNC milled etchings, and a sleak teardrop body optionally painted in a glossy clear coat of polyurethane, the IRCam Deco is by far the most unique and design centric cam available for head tracking. The IRCam Deco isn't just a throwback to the designs of the 1950's, it's a throwback to a time when things were built by hand instead of an assembly line of robots. A time when style and functionality weren't mutually exclusive. For all the time and effort we spend, the sacrifices we make to build our simpits, why not top it off with a piece of flare?
The IRCam Deco is now available for orders, and supplies are limited. Please expect extended lead times between 3 to 6 weeks during the initial months after release. I will try to keep the expected lead times updated and as accurate as possible, but please understand that delays may occur due to the lengthy lead times on the materials. The IRCam Deco utilizes a 120hz cam with the powerful OV9281 sensor, a 6ft hardwired and braided USB cable (custom lengths available upon request), 1/4 20 UNC standard cam mounting nut mounted to a bespoke R&JSimTech cam-to-screen mounting system, and a standard M12 style lens (1/4" sensor). This camera requires a USB 3.0 or 3.2 port. If you get flickering in the camera display, check to make sure you have selected a 3.0 USB port on your pc. USB hubs should be fine as long as they're 3.0 hubs and connected to a 3.0 port on the pc.
Support
With your purchase of an IRCam Deco, a 30 min 1 on 1 training session is included to help you get up and running quickly. This done through a Discord call where I'll share my screen and go through all of the settings in Opentrack and go over tips and tricks I use in my own setup. This training session is elective, and you must contact me in order to schedule a time. Availability will vary, but usually evenings in Eastern Standard Time are the easiest for me to get scheduled.
Performance
The 100hz cam is capable of providing approximately 75fps after the signal is filtered through the windows drivers as well as Opentrack. Which is more than enough for ultra smooth tracking. Please refer to the IRCam Guide for instructions on setting up the cam and Opentrack properly.
Mounting options
The included custom mount is designed to adjust 40° in pitch and 20° in yaw movement. (angles beyond this are not ideally suited to head tracking) It's adaptable to a wide range of screen shapes with 5 adjustment points, tightened using knurled thumb screws. The mount is CNC milled from brushed aluminum with black resin forming components, and is designed to be as adaptable as possible. Should your screen configuration have any compatability issues with the profile of the resting points on the cams front arms, take photos and measurements and I will send a custom lower portion of the mount arms with the modified profile for only the cost of shipping.
There is a wide variety of 1/4 20 UNC webcam mounts available from various manufacturers that will work with the IRCam Deco. So if the included mounting system doesn't work with your setup, you can also source a custom mount to tailor it to your needs. The cam will also mount to anything that has a 1/4" bolt hole available to bolt it to.
Lenses
There are 2 options for lenses available. The 58° FoV lens is ideal for seating positions where the leds of the head tracker are less than 45" in distance to the cam lens. This is the most common lens selection. For seating positions 45" or farther from the cam lens, the 40° FoV is the ideal choice. The 40° lens may be too constricting depending on cam placement and cockpit layout, therefore the 58° lens is also included with the 40° lens selection to provide flexibility with your setup. The lenses are interchangeable so that you can experiment to find the perfect setup.
Coating
The base option is now air brushed in matte black paint as opposed to the unpainted resin. The latest version of the IRCam Deco is printed on high resolution 12k SLA 3d printers to achieve the smoothest possible surface for a flawless finish in Matte Black. Matte Aircraft Grey is available upon request. If you would like aircraft grey, message me when placing your order so that I can add a note. Gloss black is no longer available.
Painting
The body and front face shroud get two primer coats, three coats of metallic paint, airbrushed to provide a smooth even coating, followed by two coats of polyurethane for a thick, glossy, durable finish. The primary colors available are light gold metallic, copper metallic, bronze metallic, metallic red, metallic blue, metallic purple, and sterling silver. Photos of a few colors are available above. The IRCam Deco can be painted virtually any color, but if the color you request isn't listed there may be an additional charge.
Bundle
If you're looking for a complete tracking package, be sure to bundle you're new IRCam Deco with the IRTrackStar for the highest performing tracking package on the market. The bundled IRTrackStar gets an exclusive 1800mAh battery that's unavailable in the standalone version. Also, as an added bonus, the bundled IRTrackStar gets the same matte black coating as the standard IRCam base coat. Poly coats and colored paints are not available on the IRTrackStar due to the reflections they cause. (matte aircraft grey is available as an option for those who prefer grey)
Compatibility
The IRCam Deco is designed to function in a package with the IRTrackStar and the free to download Opentrack software. This is the best performing combination of head tracking hardware and software currently available, full stop. This package provides lower latency and a wider tracking range than Tobii. A wider tracking range and more precision than TrackIR. It's more durable than all the options out there, and the most thoughtfully and creatively engineered hardware available for head tracking.
Please note that the IRCam Deco is NOT compatible with Trackir software. While you may use any led clip, even the one that comes with TrackIR, or even a hat clip, I do highly recommend the IRTrackStar to provide the best possible tracking performance. Approximately 75% of the performance to be gained in head tracking over the other options out there comes from the IRTrackStar. The engineering that's gone into the IRTrackStar is second to none. Beam Eye Tracker on Steam seems to be the best, but is around $30.
Alternatively, you may also utilize Opentrack's face tracking algorithm by simply removing the infrared cap from the IRCam Deco. While this doesn't provide the tracking performance of infrared point tracking, it is a budget friendly way to step into head tracking by using the cam by itself, and adding an IRTrackStar later. An important note to this is that while there are freeware options available, Beam Eye Tracker on Steam seems to be the best, but is around $30.
Cancelations
Due to the cost of the materials for these cams, and their bespoke, low volume, built-to-order nature, cancelations are not allowed on the IRCam Deco. Please only place an order if you're sure you want it. Materials for your order are placed the following day, so same day cancelations may be allowed. I do understand some countries and regions require cancelations to be made available, and if that is the case in your country, I will make exceptions. However, please keep in mind that I don't get refunded the professing fees for orders that are canceled.
